Did You Pray Today?

What is the first thing that you do when you wake up? I’m sure most will say they check their cellphones. But do you want to know the secret to have a great day everyday? When you wake up, take a second to thank God for this new day. Yes, just a second. Prayers don’t have to be long. It is already a great blessing that you are still alive (when 151,600 people die each day.) Do you have somebody who prepares breakfast for you? A double blessing.  Others live alone and don’t even have food to eat. Hot water for your bath? A blessing.  Others don’t even have the convenience of running water. Can’t decide what to wear?  A blessing. Others don’t have shirts on their back. And the list goes on.

Once our eyes are opened to the blessings that God sends our way everyday, we will be more thankful, and we will definitely be happier.  After all, “the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” (Psalm 33:5)

If we look at life in a new and brighter perspective and not take things for granted, we will surely have a great day every day!

And at the end of the day, before you go to sleep at night – instead of worrying, pray.

One of my favorite verses from the Bible is from Philippians 4:6-7:  “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” What a beautiful verse!  Just imagine if we channeled all our energies from worrying to praying, from worrying to thanksgiving – God promises peace in our hearts and in our minds.  And if we did this every night, we will surely have a more restful sleep.  If we can just realize how minute our concerns are compared to what God can do, we will surely have a more peaceful slumber.

Worried about your work?  Pray.

Worried about your finances?  Pray.

Worried about your children?  Pray.

Lift them all up to God.  He is in control.

So the question is… Did you pray today?
